Camino Injury Prevention Workshop
Protect your body and your Camino

When people ask how to prepare physically for the Camino, they are often advised to:
just walk
walk with a full pack
build up your distance & endurance
complete a few back-to-back long walks
even do all of these in the rain
All good advice, and yet…
people still get injured
long-awaited Caminos end prematurely
or they continue, but are significantly more painful than they need to be
In this session, the collaborative efforts of:
* Occupational Therapist, Colleen O’Toole (from “Let’s Walk Home”TM)
* Athletic Therapist, David McKinty &
* Certified Personal Trainer, Kelly O’Connor will cover:
Importance of understanding your mobility
Types of strength programs to achieve your goal
Introduction to functional movement screening
Common injuries on Camino, and what you can do — ahead of time and while you are on pilgrimage — to give your body the best chance to arrive in Santiago de Compostela as planned
Injury & pain management while you are on Camino
After this general information session, you will leave with a better understanding of what you need to be thinking about, and doing, to prepare your body before you go… since you are taking it on a very, very long walk!
